The process works by providing legally accepted identification to one of our collection centres so that a chain-of-custody can be established. Examples of identification such as passport, Citizenship card, or a driver’s license is accepted.
The DNA is combined with 16 different DNA primers that target specific locations (loci) in the DNA molecule for amplification. The DNA segments at these loci are known as markers because they are identifying marks for individuals. The combination of sizes for the 16 markers represents a DNA profile that is unique for that individual.
